How time flies! The Revit Technology Conference is now only a few days away! This is one of my favourite conferences of the year.
As it’s almost in my backyard there’s no excuses for me not attending. And the fact that I’m speaking at two of the sessions makes it all the more certain!
I’m joining [...]
Wow! I can’t believe it’s been two months since I last posted. I’ve been busy working on several new and exciting things recently but I’ll get on to that in a future post…
It seems it is becoming the norm for point clouds to be used during the design process, so I thought that a [...]
Have you ever wondered how to get Revit to do more for you? How about automated geometry creation or optimisation of designs? Or you’ve thought about getting into computational design but you’re a bit scared of programming or don’t know where to start? Then you’ll want to check out Zach Kron’s recent post
The changes to View Templates implemented in Revit 2013 were one of the highlights of that release for me. But fast forward a year and some users are still having problems with them.
I recently had a user that was confused because a view linked from another model didn’t display correctly. I watched [...]
This isn’t a new feature but still useful, especially if you have any beginners that you are trying to wean off direct support;
Pressing F1 whilst hovering over a tool not only takes you to the Autodesk Revit WikiHelp website, but directly to the page associated with that particular tool.
Again, [...]
There’s been a lot of talk recently about scaling families in Revit. This was perhaps first stirred up last year by Marcello Sgambelluri in a blog post that stated, contrary to popular belief, that families could indeed be scaled. This was followed by various posts from others (including Andy Milburn, [...]
I read a post last week over at the Revit Kid.com that really got me thinking. It’s not often that you come across new ideas, even though the features may have been around for a while, just forgotten about (by me at least!). The topic was about exporting views as Linked HTML files [...]
Another quick tip, obvious but a bit too hidden for some;
Question: Why don’t my exported DWGs relate to the shared Revit coordinates?
Answer: If you want your exported DWGs to retain the shared co-ordinates you’ve set up in Revit, ensure that you have the correct settings enabled! The required setting is tucked away under [...]
This problem has not only been around for a long time but has also been fairly well documented, including workarounds. But I’m still surprised how often I hear about people battling with it! It can be triggered by all manner of miniaturised problems but one that seems to occur more frequently is moving an element by a [...]
Autodesk has released a Hotfix for Revit 2013. It addresses:
Part Family:
Prevents data loss during upgrade of families containing specific material parameters. Improves stability and memory usage within graphics display. Improves vector print output of transparent elements and masking regions. Prevents accidental data loss during cancellation of the in-place family editor.
and Revit Server [...]
